Abstract

Industry 4.0 represents one of the most significant transformations in the contemporary industrial landscape, marked by the integration of digital technologies, cyber-physical systems, intelligent automation, and real-time data analysis. This technological convergence has driven industrial modernization and profoundly reshaped how companies produce, innovate, and interact with the market. Among the innovations associated with this new paradigm, additive manufacturing commonly known as 3D printing stands out for providing flexibility, efficiency, and sustainability to production processes. In the toy industry, which has traditionally relied on large-scale production and a constant pursuit of innovation, the application of 3D printing emerges as a strategic alternative capable of meeting the demands of modern consumers who value personalized, sustainable, and rapidly available products. Within this context, this study aims to analyze the application of 3D printing technology in the toy production process, identifying its main impacts, benefits, and challenges within the framework of Industry 4.0. The methodology adopted is qualitative and bibliographic, based on the analysis of books, scientific articles, and recent institutional reports, prioritizing references published over the last five years. The literature review indicates that 3D printing significantly contributes to cost reduction, material optimization, and faster product development, while enabling the creation of functional prototypes in less time. The study also highlights the emergence of new business models based on on-demand production and the commercialization of digital files for home printing, broadening innovation and competitiveness within the sector. It is concluded that 3D printing represents an important competitive advantage for the toy industry, promoting more sustainable, customized, and innovative production processes, fully aligned with the transformations driven by Industry 4.0.
