Perception of the Quality of Working Life of Professionals in the Administrative Sector in an Industry in the Manufacture of Medical and Hospital Equipment Segment

Abstract

The aim of this study was to analyze the perception of quality of life at work of employees in the administrative area of an industry in the medical and hospital equipment
manufacturing segment. The organizational environment requires extremely competent professionals, capable of handling many tasks and are challenged to work under
pressure to deliver better and faster results. Consequently, this can generate a high level of stress, demotivation and turnover of professionals when there is not a culture
implemented, both by direct management and by the Human Resources area, which aims to provide feedback on results to improve performance, in addition to reward and
motivation programs. Methodologically, a specific and abbreviated instrument for assessing the quality of life at work (QWLQ-bref), validated in Brazil, was used. The
abbreviated version QWLQ-bref is composed of 20 questions remaining from the 78 that constitute the Quality of Life at Work Questionnaire 78 (QWLQ-78). There are four
questions from the physical/health domain, three from the psychological domain, four from the personal domain and nine from the professional domain. The survey results
showed a decrease in the professional domain, followed by the psychological domain of employees in the administrative area of the company under study. The hectic organizational environment, the pressure and inconsistency of norms at work, the overload of activities, personal life and mental and physical health placed in the background have direct effects on employees and can cause losses in the result.
However, in the case of the company under analysis, as the lowest index dimensions are in a high satisfactory range and the highest ones close to the criteria of very satisfactory, it is believed that there is an interesting organizational climate for the development of work activities.
